Looking snazzy!!

Heeellllllloooo blog friends! It has been super busy around here so I am going to keep this short and sweet. The sheet rock guys finished on Monday and the cabinets are going to be installed this week. Please forgive me because I forgot to take pics after they finished the sheet rock, but these are pretty up-to-date. We were happy with the sheet rockers, but they sprayed mud all over the wooden walls that we are planning to paint. Not a huge deal, but a bit of an inconvenience. When I took these pictures they hadn't sprayed yet so you can't see it. Enjoy this pics, I will back with updates soon!
Kitchen, kinda

Brittany's room!! (YAY I HAVE A ROOMMATE!)

Half way done with the living room
The day we bought the house

Before sheet rock. Notice the sway where the wall and ceiling meet, thats not an illusion LOL
After sheet rock. To straighten the wall Cody used a beam and a jack to lift the ceiling, then cut out the rotted wood and replaced it with new pieces. It turned out much better.

Its beginning to look like a real house!

YAYYY! The exterior paint is done! I was so happy with how it turned out. We worked really hard today to get everything ready for the sheet rock guys tomorrow. I'd like to shout-out to all the helpers today: my lovely mom, Anita Peek, the most amazing brother ever, Cody Peek, and his awesome in-laws, Teara and Craig Lindholm. I don't know what we would have done without y'all!

Also, I want to give a shout-out to my readers. I've had a lot of people tell me they've been following and it made feel so cool. Maybe I should have started blogging a long time ago, then I'd be like uber cool with a bunch of blogger friends. So, I just wanted to say thanks guys for boosting my blogging ego!

We're getting so close!

Oh the joys of paint!

Hey there everyone, not going to lie, I'm a little distracted while I'm writing this post. My mom and I are watching the NBA playoff game. I'm such a bandwagonner, I don't really like basketball, but lets go Mavs!

Francisco and his brother finished up the preparation on the outside of the house to start painting tomorrow. They are doing a great job. He power-washed all week and finished caulking (not spelt "cocking" so I found out from my mother)  today. The caulking job alone was worth what we're paying these guys. They filled every nail hole, every ding in the wood, and every space between the boards. This game is getting pretty exciting so I can't promise a detailed post.

Ok, commercial break, here we go... painters are finishing the outside Saturday, electricians finished this past week, sheet rock guys start Monday, the cabinets are being built off site right now, the sink and counter tops were picked up at Ikea in Dallas by Cody and Natalie on Monday... back to the game... commercial (Mavs are winning 50 seconds left)... the sheet rock should be done by the end of next week. After the sheet rock is done it will make a huge difference. Forgot one thing, the window guys started on the repairing the windows this week too. It isn't in our budget to get them all working, but we are replacing the glass in the ones needing replacement. They are double-hung windows that use a pulley and weight system when opened. They are common in older homes.

I bought an ADT security system yesterday from Tiffany Voan with Global Security. She is great to work with. Their website is www.globalhomesecurity.net if you want to check them out. They are DirectTV providers as well (pretty sweet deal).  Let me know if you are interested because I can get $50 for referring someone!

Below are pre-exterior paint pics, I'll put some up as soon as it is finished.

For all the other bandwaggoners out there:
Final score:
Dallas 112
Miami 103

This was taken after the guys power-washed. Don't worry, it has to get worse to get better.

Sample of paint colors on the front, left corner of the house. My previous post has the name of the colors. We picked the colors from the Benjamin Moore color pallet, but we are using BEHR paint from Home Depot to save money.
You can see where Francisco has replaced some of the rotted wood, he is pretty legit.
WOAH! Its 11 pm, waaay past my bed time. See everyone next time! #postgradproblems

PAINT!! Whoo whoo

Hey blog friends! Here is a quick update: My sister-in-law and I went to Lonestar paint on Texas Blvd. today to pick colors from their Benjamin Moore color wall. Thank goodness Natalie (yes, my sister-in-law's name is Natalie Peek too lol) went with me because I would have been lost without her expertise. We're actually not using Benjamin Moore paint, but supposedly they have the best colors (like I know). We are going to take the colors to Home Depot for them to match the colors (they're cheaper).

Exterior Main Color: Berkshire Beige

Exterior Trim: Sail Cloth (not showing up on Benjamin Moore web site for some reason :0(

This is where I got the idea for exterior paint.

Interior Trim: Glacier White

Interior Wood Walls: Smoke Gray (The back wall in the pic)

Interior Main Walls: Revere Pewter

This is the inspiration for interior paints. Cody and Natalie visited this house in Georgia during the Masters. It is featured in the Serenbe community. Check out this really cool place at serenbe.com. Click here for a direct link to this house
